#ICYMI – Week of 1.7.16

Welcome to another #ICYMI! In fact, this is our first one of 2016 and we could not be more excited about all of the memes and trends this year will bring. Just in case you’re still writing 2015 everytime you write the date (aka all of us), here’s our big ol’ wrap up post for 2015.

Now let’s jump right in…

1. Tyler Oakley has been on New York Times Bestseller list for 9 weeks in a row

Like… what?!?! That’s crazy. #TeamInternet has really been going in buying copies of the YouTube royalty’s first book for apparently everyone they know. Who would have thought five or even three years ago, a YouTuber would be on the Best Seller’s list?? As amazing as Tyler is, he wasn’t the only contributor to revitalizing the book publishing industry this year. YouTuber authored books alone sold over 571 MILLION COPIES in 2015 (according to Tubefilter). All we can say is… YAAAS TEAM INTERNET YAS. 📚

2. Netflix for Everyone!

(via Netflix)

Netflix announced during their presentation yesterday at CES (the annual technology conference in Vegas) that they are expanding into 130 countries and 3 more languages!! This means that pretty much no matter where you go, you’ll be able to binge watch all of your faves. “Friends” in Frankfurt? “Design on a Dime” in Delhi? The binge-watching possibilities are endless. 🙌

3. Twitter 140 → 10K characters

(via adweek)

Now this one is a bit big and a bit controversial… The news broke this week that Twitter might be changing the character limit from 140 to 10,000 characters in the coming months. The Twitterverse freaked out a lil bit because they feel like that changes the whole platform. What do you think? Please respond in either 140 or 10,000 character or less. 😉

4. Troye on the cover of Rolling Stone Australia

(via Idolator)

Troye Sivan fans all over the world rejoiced when Troye graced the cover of Rolling Stone Australia this week. This is just one of many exciting accomplishments the musician has achieved since his debut album “Blue Neighbourhood” came out at the end of 2015. It seems that all signs are pointing to Troye having an even more amazing 2016, so we can’t wait to see what’s in store!

5. Australian Boy eating an entire watermelon

First meme of 2016?? We’re okay with it. Watch this kid in Australia eat an entire watermelon at a Cricket game…🍉🍉🍉

That’s all for this week. Give us a shout over @EpoxyTV if you think there’s anything huge that we missed or anything that we should be sure to include next time. Happy 2016  and hope you all have a great weekend!
